Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on February 27 the creation of a new force, the International Squadron for the Defense of Ukraine's Territorial Defense, composed of expatriates who want to take part in repelling the Russian army.
Zelensky said that all foreigners who want to join the resistance to the Russian army come to Ukraine and participate in this force.
According to the relevant provisions of the Presidential Decree No. 248 of Ukraine signed on June 10, 2016 "Regulations on the Service of Foreigners and Stateless Persons in the Armed Forces", foreigners have the right to join the Ukrainian Armed Forces voluntarily under contract.
