According to Yonhap News Agency, a South Korean foreign ministry official said on the 22nd that a marine soldier used his vacation time to travel to Poland without authorization and was stopped when he tried to enter Ukraine that day.

The Ukrainian side will take the soldier to the Polish border checkpoint and hand it over to South Korean government personnel. After being investigated, the soldier will be sent home.

South Korean military sources said that the soldier flew from South Korea to Poland without authorization the day before (21st). Soldiers who are serving in the military must be approved to travel abroad during the vacation period. It is reported that the South Korean government talked to the soldier and persuaded him to return home but was unable to persuade him, and then sought assistance from the Ukrainian government, and was eventually able to control the soldier.
