Panasonic Enters “Metaverse” And Releases 3 VR Devices

Panasonic announced on the afternoon of the 3rd local time that it has officially entered the field of online virtual reality space “Metaverse”. Panasonic will release three products including head-mounted display devices and microphones supporting virtual reality (VR) technology in the spring as soon as possible, striving to open up new demands.

The VR headset “MeganeX” released by Panasonic uses a high-definition organic EL (also known as OLED) screen. The weight is said to be controlled below 230 grams, and the price is less than 100,000 yen.

The other two products are leak-proof microphones that can be fixed to the mouth with a strap, and devices that can be fixed on the back to experience temperature changes according to virtual space conditions. Takuma Iwasa, the chief executive officer (CEO) of the subsidiary Shiftall in charge of development, emphasized: “Panasonic will enter the Metaverse field mainly from the perspective of hardware.”
