The M1A2 SEP V3 "Abrams" tank is the latest improvement of the American M1A2 series of tanks, which has improved the accuracy of the main gun, improved the data link of programmable control ammunition, and strengthened the front and rear armor of the tank, Built-in jammer to deal with radio-triggered improvised explosive devices, the reliability, persistence, protection and other indicators are further improved, and the combat capability is enhanced.
The purchase of 75 M1A2 SEP V3 Abrams tanks is part of the second phase of the Australian Army's Land 907 project. The second phase of the Australian Army's "Land 907" project includes upgrading the M1A1 "Abrams" main battle tank, M88A2 armoured rescue vehicle and tank support systems. 75 M1A2 SEP v3 "Abrams" main battle tanks, 29 M1150 assault obstacle-breaking vehicles, 18 M1074 joint assault bridge systems, 6 M88A2 "Hercules" armored rescue vehicles and 122 AGT1500 gas turbines.
Currently, the Australian Army has a total of 59 M1A1 "Abrams" main battle tanks, and the M1A2 SEP V3 main battle tanks will upgrade the Australian Army's tank force without changing the structure of the Australian armored force.
