According to the epidemic data released by the Ministry of Health of Vietnam on the 21st, Vietnam reported 131,713 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 that day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 8,089,761; 69 new deaths were reported, bringing the total number of deaths to 41,949.
The data also shows that as of the 21st, Vietnam has vaccinated about 202 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine for the country’s 98.5 million population, including nearly 185 million doses for people over the age of 18.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the Vietnamese government has adjusted its prevention and control policies many times. On the 17th, the Vietnamese government issued Resolution No. 38 on the COVID-19 Prevention and Control Plan, announcing the implementation of the 2022-2023 COVID-19 Prevention and Control Plan. The overall goal of the plan is to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the community, minimize severe cases and deaths from COVID-19, and restore economic and social development. Specific tasks and measures include: achieving the COVID-19 vaccination coverage target; adjusting the level of COVID-19 prevention and control measures from Class A infectious disease to Class B according to the actual situation of the epidemic; promoting domestic production and processing of COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutic drugs; Improve the service capacity of the health system and the treatment of medical and epidemic prevention personnel; establish a COVID-19 prevention and control fund based on the COVID-19 vaccine fund, etc.
